Can heat rash leave marks?

Inflammation can alter how skin colour looks even after the prickling and bumps have eased. Scratching, rubbing, or picking can prolong irritation and make a mark more noticeable. The colour may look different from surrounding skin and can be easier to see after sun exposure. Ongoing raised bumps, scale, pain, crusting, or discharge suggest that the active problem may still be present rather than being a simple leftover mark. Stop scratching and use cool compresses for residual irritation. Clean gently, avoid scrubs and fragranced products, and reduce heat and friction so new inflammation does not keep forming. Arrange a review if marks continue to change, become painful or scaly, or are joined by new bumps, warmth, swelling, or drainage.
