What should you know about heal intertrigo?

Intertrigo is irritation caused by moisture, warmth, friction, and limited airflow where skin touches skin. It commonly affects the underarms, groin, under the breasts, abdomen, or other folds. The area may look red or darker, feel sore or itchy, and become cracked, moist, or unpleasant-smelling. A Skin Yeast Infection can develop in the damaged skin. Itchy Groin and Skin Rash may describe symptoms but do not identify the cause by themselves.

Wash gently, rinse away cleanser, and pat every fold dry. Change out of damp clothing, choose breathable fabrics, and use a clean dry cloth or suitable barrier to reduce skin-on-skin rubbing. Arrange an assessment if the rash is spreading, cracked, painful, foul-smelling, recurrent, or not improving with careful drying. Prompt care is needed for pus, marked warmth, swelling, fever, red streaks, or feeling unwell. People with diabetes, reduced immunity, or extensive broken skin should seek advice early because infection can progress more quickly.

Ask whether the rash is simple friction or includes yeast, bacteria, or another inflammatory condition; which drying and barrier products fit the site; and how to prevent recurrence during heat, exercise, or prolonged moisture.
