Head mesotherapy: what to know

Mesotherapy is an injectable procedure in which a clinician places small amounts of selected substances into the skin. For scalp use, the proposed aim may relate to hair quality, shedding, or scalp hydration, but the contents and treatment plan vary. It does not identify or correct every cause of hair loss. Hair shedding can reflect hormonal changes, nutritional problems, inflammation, infection, medication, or inherited pattern changes, so an examination matters before choosing an injection treatment. The scalp should be checked for redness, scaling, tenderness, scarring, or infection.

Start with a consultation that records the pattern and timing of shedding, examines the scalp, reviews medical history, and explains the proposed ingredients. Tell the clinician about allergies, bleeding problems, immune conditions, pregnancy, medicines, and previous reactions to injections. Use a qualified medical provider and ask how sterile equipment is handled. After treatment, follow the written instructions about washing, touching, exercise, and products. Mild tenderness, pinpoint bleeding, or temporary redness can occur after injections; keeping hands and hair tools clean can reduce irritation. Do not assume that another injectable option, such as skin boosters, addresses the same problem.

Contact the treating clinician promptly for worsening pain, spreading redness, warmth, pus, fever, significant swelling, or a rash after the procedure. Urgent assessment is appropriate for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, faintness, or rapidly worsening symptoms. Arrange a dermatology review if shedding continues, bald patches appear, the scalp becomes painful, or the diagnosis was never established before treatment.

Ask what diagnosis is being treated, what each injected ingredient is intended to do, how many visits are proposed, what alternatives exist, and how results and adverse reactions will be monitored.
