Hard Bumps on Skin: Common Explanations

Look at the surface and surrounding skin. Folliculitis often centres on a hair and may itch, sting, or feel tender. Keratosis pilaris tends to produce many rough, firm follicle bumps, commonly on the upper arms or thighs. Milia are small, firm, pale bumps caused by trapped keratin. Take a clear photo beside a familiar object and note the date, then avoid picking or pressing the area.
