Hand Numbness and Vitamin Deficiency

Some nutritional problems can affect nerves and cause tingling, reduced sensation, burning, or weakness in the hands and feet. A wider, similar pattern on both sides may suggest a problem affecting multiple nerves, but it is not specific. Hand Numbness can also come from local pressure: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome at the wrist, Cubital Tunnel Syndrome at the elbow, Cervical Radiculopathy in the neck, or Thoracic Outlet Syndrome near the shoulder and upper chest. A clinician may ask about diet, digestive conditions, alcohol use, medicines, previous surgery, and other symptoms before deciding whether blood tests or nerve assessment are appropriate.

Arrange an appointment if numbness is persistent, affects both hands, spreads to the feet, or comes with fatigue, balance trouble, or weakness. Bring a list of medicines and supplements, and describe your usual diet without trying to diagnose yourself. Do not start high-dose vitamin products solely because the hand feels numb; some supplements can be harmful in excess and may obscure the cause.
