What should you know about a hair implanter pen?

An implanter pen, also called a Choi implanter or DHI pen, has a hollow needle and a plunger. A clinician loads a prepared follicular unit, then positions and releases it into a recipient site. The angle, direction and spacing are planned to match surrounding hair. The device does not create new follicles and cannot correct the reason hair was lost. Results depend on donor hair, scalp health, diagnosis and the operator’s planning.

Ask for a diagnosis and a scalp examination before discussing a device. Review the donor area, the proposed hairline, expected density and how ongoing hair loss will be managed. Ask who performs each part of the procedure, how instruments are sterilised, and what aftercare is provided.
