What should you know about HA filler under the eye?

A clinician places a gel containing hyaluronic acid beneath the skin to reduce the shadow created by a hollow between the lower eyelid and cheek. It is most suitable when the main concern is a depression rather than dark colour from pigment, visible blood vessels, loose skin, eye bags, or swelling. Filler cannot correct every cause of a tired-looking eye, and adding volume can make puffiness or bluish discoloration more apparent in some people.

The under-eye region has thin skin and important blood vessels. Results depend on anatomy, product choice, placement, and the amount used. Temporary tenderness, redness, bruising, or swelling can occur. Lumps, asymmetry, prolonged puffiness, or a bluish cast are reasons to contact the treating clinician for review.

Seek urgent medical assessment for vision changes, severe eye pain, weakness, or unusual neurological symptoms after an injection. Do not massage or attempt to correct the area yourself unless the treating clinician specifically instructs you.
