What should you know about H3K27M immunohistochemistry?

A pathologist applies a stain to tissue obtained during a biopsy or operation. The stain shows whether the H3K27M-related protein pattern is present in the examined cells. The finding is interpreted alongside the tumour’s appearance under the microscope, imaging, and other molecular tests; it is not a stand-alone forecast of what will happen.

A positive or abnormal result can support a particular diffuse midline glioma diagnosis, while a negative result does not by itself exclude every important genetic change. Your report may use terms such as retained, lost, positive, or negative, and the wording can be difficult to interpret without the full pathology context.
