Groupon chemical peel: what to know

A chemical peel applies a selected chemical solution to loosen surface skin cells and trigger controlled peeling or renewal. The result depends on the ingredient, concentration, contact time, skin condition, and the person’s healing response. A superficial peel may target dull texture or mild uneven tone, while stronger treatment has deeper effects and greater recovery needs.

Peels may be considered for Acne, Comedonal Acne, Sun-Damaged Skin, Sun Spots, or some pigmentation concerns. They can also aggravate Melasma or Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation, particularly when inflammation or sun exposure is not controlled. Glycolic Acid is one possible ingredient, but a product name alone does not describe its full risk.

Ask who will assess and perform the peel, what qualification they hold, which product will be used, and whether the offer covers consultation and follow-up. Share your history of eczema, cold sores, keloid scarring, pigment changes, allergies, and recent procedures. Mention all medicines and skincare products, especially retinoids or irritating acids.

Before treatment, agree on sun avoidance, cleansing, moisturising, and what to do if burning or swelling develops. Do not pick peeling skin or combine the procedure with unsupervised exfoliants. A lower price does not make an unsuitable peel appropriate, and a package may not be suitable for every skin tone or concern.

Contact the treating clinic promptly for intense or persistent burning, marked swelling, blistering, pus, worsening pain, or skin colour change. Urgent assessment is appropriate if swelling affects the eyes or breathing, or if you feel faint or severely unwell. If darkening or lightening remains after healing, arrange a dermatology review rather than repeating a peel.
