What should you know about granuloma annulare localized?

The bumps may be skin-coloured, pink, or slightly darker than the surrounding skin. They commonly occur on the hands, feet, elbows, or other exposed areas, but the exact site varies. The centre of a ring can look normal, and the surface is usually not scaly. Itching or tenderness can occur, but many people notice the appearance more than a sensation.

A clinician diagnoses the condition by looking at the pattern and asking how it started. A skin sample may be considered when the border is unusual, the rash is changing, or another diagnosis needs to be excluded.

Keep the skin comfortable with fragrance-free moisturiser and avoid picking at the bumps. Take a clear photograph beside a familiar object so changes in size or colour are easier to recognise. A review is useful if the ring expands, new rings appear, or the diagnosis is uncertain.

Some localized areas settle without treatment, while others remain visible or recur.
