How long does granuloma annulare last?

The course depends on the pattern and extent of the condition. A small group of lesions may become less raised and less noticeable over time, while multiple areas can remain visible for longer. Colour may linger after the bumps flatten, especially in deeper skin tones. Improvement does not prove the original diagnosis, and a ring that becomes scaly or changes quickly may represent another condition.

Take an occasional photograph in consistent lighting and note new sites, itch, tenderness, scaling, or surface change. Protect the area from rubbing and use a fragrance-free moisturiser for dryness.
