What should you know about glycerine for dry skin?

Glycerine, also called glycerol, is a humectant. It binds water in the outer skin layer, which can make rough skin feel more flexible. A humectant does not address every reason for dryness, and the surrounding ingredients influence comfort, spread and protection from water loss.
