A tumour may be difficult to reach without risking important functions such as speech, movement, vision or memory. A person’s general health, frailty, other conditions or wishes can also affect the balance between benefit and harm. A decision not to operate does not mean that care stops. Radiotherapy may target tumour cells, and Chemotherapy may be considered according to the diagnosis and overall plan. Steroids or anti-seizure medicines may help particular symptoms, but they should be taken only as prescribed. A specialist team can also plan rehabilitation, home support, symptom relief and follow-up.

Get emergency help for a first seizure, a prolonged seizure, sudden weakness, new speech difficulty, severe confusion, repeated vomiting or rapidly worsening drowsiness. Tell the treatment team promptly about a new symptom, worsening balance, inability to keep medicines down, fever or a sudden change in alertness.
