Chicken skin usually describes small, rough bumps around hair follicles, commonly on the upper arms, thighs, cheeks, or buttocks. Keratosis pilaris develops when keratin plugs the follicle opening. Seek urgent care for fever, severe tenderness, or redness moving quickly away from the affected area.
