Follow the weight-bearing instructions exactly, because they depend on fracture stability and the operation. Contact the surgical team promptly for fever, increasing wound redness or drainage, worsening pain, new calf swelling, chest symptoms, a cold or discoloured foot, or sudden loss of movement or feeling. Do not change weight-bearing on your own if walking becomes more painful.
