Frequent fever and colds in adults

Several respiratory illnesses can occur close together, and symptoms may overlap. Arrange a primary-care appointment if episodes keep returning or interfere with work, sleep, or eating.

Seek urgent medical help for trouble breathing, chest pain, confusion, a stiff neck, severe weakness, dehydration, a rapidly spreading rash, or fever with a serious deterioration. Prompt assessment is also sensible for an adult with a weakened immune system, significant long-term illness, or a fever after relevant travel.
