What should you know about Fotona Q-Switch laser?

Q-Switch refers to the way the laser stores energy and releases it in a very short pulse. Depending on the wavelength and settings, the beam can target tattoo ink or selected pigmented areas. The clinician chooses parameters for the pigment, skin tone, location, and treatment goal. The treated area may feel warm or sharp and can look temporarily red, darker, lighter, or slightly swollen. This technology is not a single treatment recipe, and a consultation is needed to decide whether pigment removal, tone improvement, or another approach is appropriate.

Tell your clinician about recent sun exposure, tanning products, medicines, active irritation, and any history of unusual pigment changes or scarring. Arrive with clean skin and follow instructions about products to pause. Afterward, avoid rubbing the area, use the recommended soothing care, and protect it from sunlight. Do not peel flakes or darkened pigment away. If the aim is overall tone, ask whether Laser Toning is suitable and how its aftercare differs from a pigment-targeted session.

Contact the clinic if discomfort, swelling, or redness becomes progressively stronger, or if you notice pus, spreading warmth, fever, or extensive blistering. A new pale or dark patch that persists should be reviewed, especially if it expands beyond the treated area. Get emergency help for breathing difficulty or rapid swelling of the face. Temporary colour change and mild irritation can occur, but worsening symptoms deserve assessment.
