What should you know about Fotona CO2 laser?

A CO2 laser delivers controlled energy to the skin. Depending on the settings, it can remove very small layers of the surface, create microscopic treatment columns, or combine both approaches. This may soften the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, uneven texture, and selected sun-related changes.

The treatment is different from a gentle facial or non-ablative energy procedure. Redness, warmth, swelling, peeling, crusting, and temporary sensitivity can occur as the skin repairs. The depth and area treated affect recovery, and darker skin tones may need particularly careful settings and pigment monitoring.

Tell the clinician about recent tanning, cold sores, active acne or infection, eczema, medicines, previous scars, and a tendency to develop pigment changes. Follow instructions about skincare, antiviral medicine when prescribed, and sun avoidance before treatment.

After treatment, cleanse as directed, keep the skin appropriately moisturised, do not pick peeling areas, and protect the surface from sunlight. Avoid retinoids, acids, fragranced products, swimming, or heat until the clinician says they are suitable. Laser resurfacing may require several days or longer before the skin looks settled.

Contact the clinic for increasing pain, spreading redness, pus, fever, delayed healing, or new dark or pale areas. Seek urgent help for eye pain or vision change, facial swelling with breathing difficulty, or a severe blistering reaction.
