What should you know about forearm ulnar pain?

Short answer
Forearm ulnar pain affects the little-finger side and may come from overloaded tissues, an elbow or wrist problem, nerve irritation, or injury.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.
At a glance
- Side
- The ulnar side is the little-finger side of the forearm and wrist
- Record
- Exact location, gripping triggers, elbow position, tingling, and grip changes
- Urgent signs
- Sudden weakness, deformity, severe injury pain, or a cold or discoloured hand
Understanding the little-finger side
The ulnar side runs beside the little finger, from the inner elbow through the forearm toward the wrist. Pain near the inner elbow can occur with Golfer's Elbow after repeated gripping, throwing, or wrist flexion. Tennis Elbow usually affects the outer elbow, but forearm muscles can make the location feel less precise.
Tingling in the little and ring fingers, reduced grip, or symptoms that increase when the elbow stays bent may point toward irritation of the ulnar nerve. A twist, fall, or forceful load can instead affect a muscle, tendon, or joint. Note the exact spot and the action that starts it.
Practical next steps
Temporarily reduce forceful gripping, heavy lifting, and repetitive wrist turning. Avoid leaning on the inner elbow and vary positions during desk or tool work. Keep the elbow and wrist moving gently within comfort; do not repeatedly provoke tingling to test it.
Arrange an assessment if symptoms continue, interfere with grip, wake you, or keep returning. Examination can compare elbow and wrist movement with nerve sensation and hand strength, helping select activity changes, rehabilitation, or other care.
When to seek care
Seek urgent care for sudden hand weakness, rapidly spreading numbness, severe pain after an injury, visible deformity, or a hand that is cold or discoloured. Prompt review is also appropriate for increasing swelling, redness and warmth, fever, or inability to move the wrist or fingers normally.
Questions for your doctor
Ask whether the symptoms fit a tendon, muscle, joint, or ulnar nerve problem; which tasks to stop; and whether your grip and sensation need testing. Ask how to sleep or work without elbow pressure and what improvement should look like during rehabilitation.

It describes pain on the little-finger side; causes can include overloaded muscles or tendons, elbow or wrist irritation, nerve symptoms, or injury.
Can Golfer's Elbow cause ulnar forearm pain?
Golfer's Elbow can cause pain around the inner elbow and forearm, especially with gripping or wrist-flexion activities, but tingling or weakness needs separate nerve assessment.
