How to fix sweaty feet

Short answer
To fix sweaty feet, reduce moisture, protect the skin and discuss targeted treatment if daily care is not enough.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What sweaty feet can mean
Sweaty feet are often caused by overactive sweat glands on the soles. Warm shoes, stress, exercise and synthetic socks can make moisture more noticeable. Constant dampness can soften the skin and create friction, which may lead to odour, cracking or blisters. Athlete's foot is a separate fungal condition that can cause scaling, itching or soreness; sweating may make the foot environment more favourable for it.
Notice whether sweating affects both feet, occurs while resting, or comes with symptoms elsewhere. A clinician can assess whether this is excessive sweating or a sign of another problem.
Steps that may help
Wash and dry the feet carefully, including between the toes. Change socks when they become damp, choose breathable materials, and rotate shoes so each pair can dry fully. Moisture-wicking insoles may reduce pooling inside footwear. An over-the-counter antiperspirant made for feet may help when used exactly as directed; a clinician can discuss a prescription antiperspirant if that is insufficient.
Iontophoresis uses a mild electrical current while the feet sit in water and may reduce sweating over a course of sessions. Treatment choice depends on skin condition, medical history and how much sweating interferes with walking, work or sleep.
When to seek care
Arrange an assessment if sweating is new, severe, limited to one foot, or accompanied by weight change, fever, palpitations, weakness or night sweats. Seek prompt care for spreading redness, warmth, swelling, pus, deep cracks, severe pain or a wound that is not healing, especially if you have diabetes or reduced sensation.
Questions for your doctor
Could a skin infection or medicine be contributing to the sweating? Which foot antiperspirant is suitable for my skin? Would iontophoresis be appropriate, and how should I protect irritated or cracked skin?

Questions people ask
Can sweaty feet cause athlete's foot?
Damp footwear can encourage the conditions in which athlete's foot develops, but sweating itself is not the fungal infection.
When should I consider prescription treatment?
Discuss it with a clinician when regular drying, sock changes and suitable antiperspirant use do not control symptoms.
