Three-dimensional ultrasound builds a surface image, while four-dimensional ultrasound adds movement over time. HD rendering can make facial or body contours easier to view when fetal position, fluid, and image conditions allow. The view may change during the appointment if the baby turns or places a hand near the face.

A keepsake session is different from an anomaly scan or growth scan. A clinical scan follows a medical purpose and may assess anatomy, growth, fluid, placenta, or blood flow according to the requested examination. A pleasant image does not confirm that every aspect of pregnancy is normal.

Check whether the provider offers clinical reporting and whether a qualified clinician reviews the images. Bring your maternity records and tell your maternity team about any concern rather than relying on a studio impression. Ask how long the session lasts, what preparation is needed, and how images are stored.

Do not wait for a keepsake appointment to investigate these symptoms.
