What should you know about finger eczema treatment?

Eczema on the fingers may cause dryness, itch, redness, scaling, soreness, or painful cracks. Repeated handwashing, detergents, solvents, gloves, metals, and wet work can weaken the barrier. Use prescribed creams exactly as directed; stronger medicine is not automatically better for every area or duration. Cover painful cracks with a clean dressing and avoid scratching. Improvement may take time when exposure to an irritant continues.

Arrange review if the rash keeps returning, spreads, disrupts sleep, or does not improve with careful barrier care. Seek prompt assessment for increasing warmth, pus, yellow crusting, marked swelling, fever, or rapidly worsening pain, since broken eczema can become infected.
