Filler for Hands: Before and After

The backs of the hands may look thinner as soft tissue changes with ageing, weight change, sun exposure, or natural anatomy. Filler placed in selected planes can add cushioning and soften the contrast between the skin and underlying structures. It does not erase veins, tendons, pigmentation, or crepey texture, so photographs should be compared in similar lighting and with the hands in the same position.

A hyaluronic acid filler is one material a clinician may discuss. Treatment can cause temporary swelling, bruising, tenderness, unevenness, or small lumps. Infection and circulation problems are possible. The product, placement, and amount should be selected for the hand rather than copied from facial treatment.

Before treatment, disclose allergies, medicines, bleeding problems, autoimmune conditions, previous hand procedures, and any cuts, rash, or infection. Remove rings if swelling is expected and ask when they can be worn again. Take a clear baseline photograph if you want to track the change.

Afterward, keep injection points clean and use only the aftercare recommended by your clinician. Elevate the hands if advised, avoid pressure and strenuous hand use for the stated period, and do not squeeze a lump. Swelling may make the hands look fuller before the final appearance becomes easier to judge.

Seek prompt advice for increasing pain, spreading redness, drainage, fever, marked colour change, cold fingers, numbness, or reduced movement. Sudden severe pain or a hand that becomes pale, blue, or unusually cool needs urgent assessment because circulation may be affected.

Ask which areas will be treated, what improvement is realistic for veins and tendons, how hand movement affects recovery, what product is being used, and when the result will be reviewed.
