Filler for Glabellar Lines

Glabellar lines are vertical creases between the eyebrows. Repeated frowning can fold the skin, while sun exposure, natural ageing, and reduced support can make a crease remain visible when the face is relaxed. Filler places a gel beneath a depressed area to create support and soften the transition. It cannot reproduce the action of healthy skin or prevent future expression lines.

Because important vessels lie in and around this region, the injector should examine the skin, facial movement, prior procedures, and medical history before recommending treatment. Possible effects include bruising, swelling, tenderness, asymmetry, nodules, infection, or an inflammatory response. Blood-vessel blockage is uncommon but serious and can threaten skin or sight.

Bring a list of medicines, allergies, previous fillers, and any history of cold sores or skin inflammation. Tell the clinician if the area is irritated or infected. Ask to see the product packaging and discuss whether a muscle-relaxing treatment or a combination plan addresses the movement causing the crease more directly.

After injection, keep the area clean and follow the specific instructions you receive. Avoid rubbing, firm pressure, heavy exercise, and intense heat until advised otherwise. Swelling can temporarily distort the appearance, so allow the treated area to settle before assessing symmetry. Arrange the planned review rather than adding product early.

Call the clinic urgently for escalating pain, marked colour change, mottled or pale skin, increasing swelling on one side, or blisters near the treated area. Go to emergency care for visual changes, severe headache, facial weakness, confusion, or speech difficulty after treatment. Prompt assessment can guide time-sensitive management.

Ask how much of the crease comes from movement, where the product will be placed, what alternatives exist, how long swelling may last, and exactly whom to contact outside clinic hours.
