What does a movable fibroadenoma mean?

A movable fibroadenoma can shift beneath the fingers because it is often separate from surrounding breast tissue. This quality is a familiar feature of many fibroadenomas, but movement is not a diagnosis. A clinician should assess any new breast lump, including one that feels mobile.

A lump may glide slightly from side to side or feel like it has a defined edge. Its movement can vary with its depth, size, and the surrounding tissue.
