Fibroadenoma age group: what it means

A fibroadenoma is a benign, solid breast lump formed from fibrous and glandular tissue. It may feel smooth, firm and mobile, but these features are not enough to confirm it. Hormonal changes can make a fibroadenoma more noticeable or tender at some stages of life.

A lump outside the usual age pattern still needs proper assessment. Cysts, normal tissue variation and other breast conditions can produce similar sensations. A clinician uses your history, examination and imaging; tissue sampling may be advised if the result remains uncertain.

Arrange an examination for a new lump or a lump that persists. Before the visit, note when it appeared, whether it moves, and whether its tenderness changes with your cycle, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell the clinician about hormone medicines and previous breast findings.
