Why it may happen
Vaccination presents the immune system with an inactivated vaccine material so it can recognise influenza without causing flu. Local soreness, mild fever, headache, muscle aches, or tiredness may accompany that response. Fatigue may also be unrelated, such as from poor sleep, another infection, dehydration, or an existing health problem. The vaccine does not cause influenza infection.

Rest, drink fluids, eat as usual if able, and keep activity gentle while you feel unwell. Follow the label or your clinician's advice before taking a pain or fever medicine, especially if you have another condition or take regular medicines. Get emergency help for trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, widespread hives, collapse, or severe dizziness soon after vaccination. Contact a clinician for a high or persistent fever, worsening weakness, new neurological symptoms, or fatigue that does not begin to improve.
