What should you know about fat transfer to nose?

The nose has delicate skin, a complex blood supply and little room for added volume. A specialist examines the bridge, tip, skin thickness, breathing and any previous surgery before deciding whether fat is appropriate. Fat is collected from a donor site, prepared and placed in tiny deposits. The goal may be to smooth a hollow or soften an irregular transition; adding fat cannot reliably make a nose smaller or correct every structural concern. Early swelling can obscure the shape, and the settled result may differ from the initial appearance.

A blocked nose, new pain, skin change or a rapidly developing bump deserves medical assessment. Cosmetic planning should wait until an active nasal or skin problem has been evaluated.

Discuss prior nasal operations, injections, allergies, medicines and any breathing difficulty. Ask how the donor site and nose will be protected, whether glasses or pressure must be limited, and how follow-up will be arranged. Follow wound-care instructions closely; avoid rubbing, squeezing or self-massaging the nose. Attend reviews even when the swelling seems mild, because subtle colour or circulation changes can require prompt examination.

Contact the clinic promptly for worsening pain, increasing redness, drainage, fever, spreading bruising, or a change in shape that concerns you. Seek urgent care for pale, grey or dark skin, severe pain out of proportion, sudden vision changes, severe headache, or difficulty breathing.

Ask what specific irregularity can be improved, how breathing will be protected, what alternatives exist, how long pressure must be avoided, and which colour or vision symptoms require immediate care.
