What should you know about fat transfer from waist to hips?

The clinician maps the waist and hip contours, reviews your goals and checks whether the donor area has enough suitable fat. Fat is removed through small openings, processed, and injected in multiple passes to shape the receiving area. The waist may appear more defined while the hips gain projection, but the final balance depends on tissue quality, anatomy and healing.

Expect bruising, swelling, soreness and temporary numbness at the waist and hips. Early asymmetry can reflect swelling. Transferred fat can change as healing progresses, and the result may not match a reference image exactly. Your consultation should cover whether a staged approach is sensible.

A painful swollen leg, sudden chest pain, severe breathlessness, fainting or sudden weakness needs urgent medical attention. Persistent hard areas or a new lump should be examined rather than self-diagnosed.

Ask how much contour change is realistic, which waist areas will be treated, how sitting and sleeping will be managed, what scars may remain, how symmetry is assessed, and what follow-up includes. Confirm the anaesthesia plan, recovery restrictions and the process for reporting a concern.
