What should you know about fat around the neck and chin?

A soft fullness beneath the chin can reflect inherited facial shape, changes in body weight, ageing-related skin laxity, or a combination. A short neck, a small lower jaw, or loose skin can make the area look fuller even when the fat pocket is modest.

A new, firm, painful, or one-sided lump is different from a longstanding soft contour and should be examined before aesthetic treatment.
