What should you know about fat and cellulite removers?

Localised fat is a soft pocket of subcutaneous tissue that can affect body contour. Cellulite is a dimpled or uneven surface pattern linked to fibrous bands, fat compartments, skin thickness, and tissue structure. A person can have either concern or both at the same site.

Because the mechanisms differ, reducing fat may not smooth dimpling, and tightening the skin may not remove a fat pocket. A consultation should define whether the main goal is volume reduction, surface smoothing, or firmer skin.

Subcision targets selected tethering bands, while energy-based approaches focus on heating or stimulating tissue; the expected changes and recovery differ.

Ask for a plan that names the target tissue and explains how many visits may be needed, what discomfort or bruising can occur, and how results will be assessed. Healthy movement and stable habits support overall wellbeing but are not a guaranteed way to erase cellulite.

Have a new lump, one-sided swelling, pain, skin warmth, redness, or rapid contour change assessed before an aesthetic procedure. Seek urgent care for sudden swelling with severe pain, breathing difficulty, or symptoms affecting an entire limb.
