What should you know about exosomes in plants?

Plants release nanoscale membrane particles that can contain lipids, proteins and other molecules. They are sometimes called plant exosomes or exosome-like particles. The label can cover different materials, because isolation methods and definitions vary. A laboratory observation about a plant particle does not by itself show that a cream, serum or injection containing it reaches human skin in the same form. Effects may also depend on the plant source, extraction process, preservatives and the other ingredients in the formulation.

Read the full ingredient list and ask which plant was used, how the material was isolated and whether the finished product was tested for microbes, contaminants and stability. Patch-test advice may be appropriate for a topical product, especially if you have sensitive skin, eczema or known plant allergies; follow the clinician or product instructions. Do not apply an injectable or microneedling product outside a qualified clinical setting. Keep ordinary skin care simple while assessing a new product so a reaction is easier to identify.

Arrange prompt medical advice for blistering, severe burning, rapidly spreading redness, pus, fever or swelling that continues to worsen.
