What should you know about a Dynatronics TENS unit?

TENS means transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. Pads placed on the skin send controlled pulses that may change how pain signals are processed and may make movement or exercise more comfortable. The device does not repair a fracture, remove an infection, or identify the cause of pain. A tingling sensation is common; sharp, burning, or worsening discomfort is a reason to stop and check the pad position and settings.

Follow the instructions provided with your specific model and any plan from your physiotherapist. Place electrodes only on intact skin, keep the unit switched off while attaching them, and increase intensity gradually. Do not place pads over the eyes, front of the neck, or broken or irritated skin. Ask a clinician before use if you have an implanted electrical device, reduced sensation, a seizure disorder, are pregnant, or are unsure where pads belong. Keep the unit and pads dry and remove them if the skin becomes persistently red.

Seek prompt medical advice for new weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, severe swelling, fever, chest symptoms, or pain after a major injury. Stop using the unit and seek help for a burn, marked rash, faintness, or symptoms that continue after the device is removed. Persistent pain needs an assessment rather than repeated self-treatment.

Ask which diagnosis the unit is intended to support, where each electrode should go, how long a session should last, and which symptoms mean you should stop. Confirm whether it fits with your medicines, implanted devices, skin condition, and rehabilitation exercises.
