What should you know about dry needling stim unit?

Dry needling places fine, solid needles into areas of muscle tension or trigger points. The stim unit connects to some needles and delivers controlled pulses. You may notice a tapping, pulsing, or contracting sensation while the therapist adjusts the setting. The aim is to support movement and reduce protective muscle tension; it is not the same as an injection and it does not put medicine into the muscle.

Tell the physiotherapist about a pacemaker or other implanted electrical device, pregnancy, reduced sensation, bleeding problems, medicines that affect clotting, or a skin infection near the treatment area. Wear clothing that allows access to the body region and eat and drink normally unless your clinician gives different instructions.

Contact the treating clinic if soreness is worsening, redness spreads, or the area becomes increasingly warm or swollen.
