Double Chin and Jowls

Jowls are fullness or sagging near the lower cheeks and corners of the jaw. A double chin is fullness beneath the chin. They can appear together when skin becomes less firm, facial fat shifts, the chin is relatively small, or the jawline is naturally soft. Looking down can exaggerate both folds without showing how the face appears in a neutral position. A clinician assesses the face from several angles and distinguishes fat from loose skin before suggesting a plan.

Bring unedited photographs or explain which angle troubles you most. Ask whether the goal is reducing fat, supporting the jawline, improving skin quality, or combining approaches. Fat-dissolving injections target selected fat, while cryolipolysis uses cooling; neither automatically lifts jowls. Protect skin from sun exposure and maintain steady routines, but do not expect exercises to selectively remove a fold. A staged plan can make it easier to see which change helps.

Arrange medical assessment for a new one-sided lump, rapid change, unexplained pain, skin breakdown, or difficulty swallowing or breathing. After a procedure, contact the clinic for fever, pus, spreading redness, severe pain, or swelling that is worsening. Emergency symptoms such as breathing difficulty or sudden weakness need urgent help.

Ask what is contributing to each contour, which concern the proposed treatment targets, how the jaw and neck will be protected, and when changes should be reviewed. Ask what alternatives fit if skin looseness is the main issue.
