Double chin correction: available approaches

A double chin is a visible fold or fullness beneath the jaw. It can be soft and fat-dominant, thin and skin-dominant, or influenced by a less prominent chin. Genetics, ageing, weight changes, and head position can all affect its appearance. A treatment aimed only at fat may leave loose skin unchanged, while tightening skin will not add projection to a recessed chin. That is why a consultation should include the neck, jawline, chin profile, and skin quality rather than focusing on one photograph.

Describe the result you want, such as a sharper jawline or less fullness in side view. Cosmetic correction is not the first step for a new lump, marked asymmetry, tenderness, redness, warmth, or fast enlargement. Medical review is also needed with difficulty swallowing, breathing problems, persistent hoarseness, fever, or swelling elsewhere in the neck.
