Does thyroid hormone replacement help with cold intolerance?

Thyroid hormones influence how the body uses energy and produces heat. When thyroid hormone is low, some people feel unusually cold or need extra layers in ordinary temperatures. Replacing the missing hormone may ease that symptom as the body returns toward its usual level of thyroid activity.

Cold intolerance is not specific to hypothyroidism. Anaemia, circulation problems, low body weight, some medicines, and environmental exposure can also contribute.
