Does stasis dermatitis cause skin ulcer?

Stasis dermatitis is linked with blood pooling in the veins of the lower legs. Fluid can collect in nearby tissue, causing swelling, itching, scaling, redness, and skin that becomes fragile or darker. Repeated inflammation and reduced tissue support can allow an open area to form, often around the lower leg or ankle.
