Does lymphoma cause unexplained fever?

Lymphoma can trigger immune signals that raise body temperature. Fever may come and go or occur with chills, sweating, fatigue or enlarged lymph nodes. A fever without an identified cause still needs a broad assessment because infections, inflammatory illness, medication reactions and other problems can produce the same symptom.

A clinician may ask about the temperature pattern, travel, sick contacts, medicines, immune health and associated symptoms. They may examine you and request blood or urine tests and other investigations guided by the findings. A fever pattern alone cannot diagnose lymphoma.

Record measured temperatures, timing, chills, sweats, medicines and other symptoms. Drink fluids and rest; use fever medicine only as directed and check with a pharmacist or clinician if you have other conditions or take regular medicines. Avoid starting leftover antibiotics, because they may mask symptoms or treat the wrong cause.

Arrange medical advice when fever persists, recurs without a clear explanation or comes with swollen nodes, fatigue or unexplained weight change. Tell the clinician about recent travel, procedures, infections and new medicines.

Seek urgent help for severe breathlessness, chest pain, confusion, fainting, a stiff neck, severe dehydration or rapidly worsening illness. Contact a clinician promptly for recurring unexplained fever, drenching night sweats or fever with a weakened immune system. These situations need assessment rather than a conclusion based on one symptom.
