Does lichen sclerosus cause vulval skin changes?

Lichen sclerosus can produce pale or white areas, a crinkled or shiny texture, and skin that tears or bruises with minor friction. The folds around the vulva may gradually look different as inflammation and healing alter the skin. Some people also notice itching, soreness, burning or discomfort during sex. The pattern can involve the vulva and skin around the anus, often forming a shape around both areas, but symptoms vary.
