Short answer

Arch Pain is a very common presentation of Flat Feet, especially when the foot is overloaded during standing or walking.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Why the arch may hurt

With flat feet, the arch lowers or the foot rolls inward while bearing weight. This can increase demand on the arch tissues, calf and ankle muscles, particularly after a change in activity, footwear or body load. Some people have flat feet without pain. A clinician can assess whether the arch, plantar fascia, tendon, joint or nerve is contributing, because arch pain has more than one possible source.

Practical steps

Reduce activities that clearly aggravate pain for a short period, then return gradually. Choose supportive, comfortable shoes and ask a physiotherapist about calf and foot strengthening, mobility work and whether an insert could help. Avoid forcing painful stretches or relying on an insert without checking its fit. Weight-bearing examination is useful when symptoms persist.

When to seek care

Arrange an assessment if pain keeps returning, changes your walking or lasts despite sensible footwear and activity adjustment. Seek prompt care after an injury, or for sudden swelling, redness, warmth, numbness, marked weakness or inability to bear weight.

Questions for your doctor

Is my arch pain coming from the flat-foot mechanics or another structure? Would physiotherapy or an insert suit me? Which activities should I modify, and how should I rebuild strength?
