Does a spine surgery perform endoscopic spine surgery?

Endoscopic spine surgery uses a small camera and specialised instruments through a limited access route. The surgeon may remove tissue pressing on a nerve or address another defined problem, depending on its location. A smaller access route does not mean that every spinal condition can be treated this way. The decision depends on the diagnosis, spinal level, stability, previous operations, imaging findings, and the surgeon's experience with the technique. Some people still need a conventional operation or non-surgical care.

Ask for a spine assessment that matches your symptoms with the imaging findings. Bring scan reports and describe leg or arm pain, tingling, weakness, walking limits, and previous treatments. Confirm whether the proposed procedure is endoscopic, what tissue will be treated, and what would happen if the camera approach is not suitable during planning. Discuss anaesthesia, same-day or overnight care, wound protection, rehabilitation, and return to normal activities.

Get urgent help for rapidly worsening weakness, new bladder or bowel problems, numbness around the saddle area, or severe symptoms after an accident. Following surgery, contact the team promptly for worsening pain with fever, wound drainage, spreading redness, severe headache, or a new change in strength or sensation. Breathing difficulty or chest pain requires emergency care.

Ask what finding makes endoscopic treatment reasonable, what alternatives exist, and how the surgeon measures whether the nerve has been relieved. Clarify the expected recovery, restrictions on lifting and bending, rehabilitation needs, and which symptoms would suggest that further assessment is needed.
