Does a physiotherapy perform a biomechanical assessment?

Short answer
Yes, a physiotherapist can perform a biomechanical assessment to examine movement, joint loading, muscle control and functional tasks.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What is assessed
The assessment may include your posture, walking or running pattern, range of motion, balance, coordination and strength. The physiotherapist may watch you squat, reach, climb a step or perform another task connected with your symptoms. They can compare sides, look at how one body region affects another, and ask about work, sport and everyday demands. This information helps identify modifiable movement factors and choose exercises or technique changes; it does not replace medical assessment when symptoms suggest a non-musculoskeletal problem.
Before your appointment
Wear clothing that allows the relevant body region to move and bring supportive footwear if walking or running is part of the concern. Note when symptoms occur and which tasks are difficult. Tell the physiotherapist about previous injuries, operations, pregnancy, neurological symptoms and current treatment. Follow only the testing instructions given, and mention pain during a movement rather than pushing through it silently.
When to seek prompt medical care
Seek urgent care for sudden major weakness, loss of coordination, new bladder or bowel problems, numbness around the groin, or an inability to bear weight after injury. Get prompt medical advice for a hot swollen joint, fever with severe pain, or symptoms that are rapidly changing.
Questions to ask
Which movement or task will you assess? What did you observe, and how does it relate to my symptoms? Which changes should I practise at home, and when should the assessment be repeated?

Questions people ask
Is a biomechanical assessment painful?
Some movements may reproduce familiar symptoms, but the assessment should be adapted and you can report discomfort immediately.
Does it require imaging?
Not always; the physiotherapist can often learn a great deal from history and physical movement testing.
