What should you know about deep frown lines between eyes?

The glabellar muscles draw the eyebrows inward during frowning, concentration and squinting. Repeated movement can make vertical lines remain visible after the expression ends. Sun exposure, dryness and reduced elasticity can add fine texture around the crease. The appearance does not reliably describe your mood or personality.

During an assessment, the clinician observes the area at rest and while you move your brows. They also consider brow position, eyelid shape, skin thickness and any previous cosmetic treatment.

Protect the area from ultraviolet exposure and use a gentle moisturiser to reduce dryness. Botulinum toxin injection may be considered when muscle activity is a major contributor. Dermal fillers have a different role and should be discussed cautiously because the area between the brows has complex anatomy and needs an experienced medical assessment.

Tell the clinician about medicines, allergies, earlier injections and neurological or eye conditions. A consultation should cover the intended change, possible asymmetry, swelling or bruising, and the instructions for follow-up.

Seek medical review for a new mark between the eyes that is painful, bleeding, crusted, ulcerated, persistently itchy or changing. After treatment, urgent care is appropriate for severe pain, unusual skin colour, rapidly increasing swelling, fever, breathing difficulty or vision changes. Sudden facial weakness or speech difficulty is an emergency.
