Day Three Embryo Transfer: What to Expect

A day-three embryo is transferred before it reaches the later blastocyst stage. It may continue dividing, change position and then attach to the womb lining, although the timing and outcome differ between cycles.

Mild cramps, pelvic awareness, discharge, bloating or tiredness may reflect the procedure, ovarian treatment or progesterone. Feeling completely normal is also common and does not provide a result.

Take prescribed medicines on schedule, including micronised progesterone if it is part of your plan. Gentle walking and normal daily routines are generally reasonable when comfortable; avoid strenuous exertion if your clinic has advised otherwise.

Do not use symptoms or an early home test to make treatment decisions. Follow the clinic’s date for pregnancy testing, keep the appointment and call if you miss a dose or need advice about pain relief.

Call your fertility team for bleeding that is more than light spotting, pain that is increasing, fever, dizziness, breathlessness, unusual abdominal swelling or persistent vomiting. Emergency help is needed for collapse, severe pain or trouble breathing.
