Day Six After Embryo Transfer: What to Expect

The embryo may be attaching to the womb lining around this stage, but timing varies. Light spotting, mild pelvic pulling, bloating, breast tenderness or tiredness can occur. Progesterone support can also cause breast changes, constipation, sleepiness and discharge, so symptoms cannot reliably distinguish treatment effects from pregnancy.

A lack of cramps, spotting or other sensations does not show that treatment has failed. Home testing too early can be confusing, particularly if an injection used during treatment has not fully cleared.

Continue prescribed medicines, including micronised progesterone, exactly as directed; do not stop because bleeding or symptoms change. Keep ordinary gentle activity if you feel well, drink normally and avoid starting new medicines or supplements without checking with your fertility team.

Use the clinic’s planned pregnancy-test date rather than trying to interpret daily symptoms. Record bleeding, pain and medicines, and contact the clinic if you are unsure about a dose or have a test result before the scheduled review.

Contact your fertility clinic promptly for heavy or increasing bleeding, worsening pelvic pain, fever, faintness, shortness of breath, marked abdominal swelling or repeated vomiting. Seek urgent emergency care for severe one-sided pain, collapse or difficulty breathing.

Ask when your blood pregnancy test is planned, which symptoms should trigger an earlier call, and whether your current medicines should continue after bleeding or a positive result.
