What should you know about dark spots on black skin?

Inflammation from acne, follicle irritation, eczema, bites, burns, or friction can stimulate extra pigment that remains after the original problem improves. Chemical peel, skin brightening treatment, or picosecond laser treatment may be considered in selected cases, with conservative planning and careful aftercare.

Seek a dermatology review if pigment is spreading, repeatedly returning, or accompanied by scale, significant itch, pain, bleeding, crusting, or a lump.
