Dark Spots Between the Thighs: What to Know

Walking, exercise, tight clothing, moisture, shaving, or a previous rash can irritate the inner thighs and leave post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. A smooth symmetrical area may be friction-related, while a rash with a defined edge, scale, burning, or itch can suggest tinea versicolor or another fungal process. Thick velvety darkening in several folds should be reviewed. Melasma and sun spots are less typical in this covered location.

Keep the fold gently clean and dry, change out of damp clothing, and choose breathable garments. Avoid harsh scrubs, fragranced products, and repeated shaving over irritated skin.
