What should you know about dark circles fat transfer?

Fat transfer uses fat taken from another part of the body and placed into carefully selected facial areas. Around the eyes, the aim is to reduce a depression that catches light and creates a shadow. It will not directly remove brown pigment, visible vessels, allergy-related rubbing, or eyelid inflammation. Some transferred fat may change over time, and the final appearance depends on anatomy, technique, healing, and how much volume is appropriate. Under-eye puffiness can make this option unsuitable.

Have a specialist assess the lower eyelid, cheek transition, skin colour, puffiness, and facial movement rather than treating a photograph alone. Discuss the donor area, anaesthesia, scars, swelling, bruising, asymmetry, infection, and the possibility of further adjustment. Treat active dermatitis or eye irritation first. Under-Eye Filler may be considered in some cases, but it has different material and planning considerations from fat transfer.

After surgery, contact the care team for worsening pain, spreading redness, fever, drainage, marked asymmetry, or swelling that affects the eye. Emergency assessment is needed for sudden vision change, severe eye pain, breathing difficulty, or rapidly increasing facial swelling. A new one-sided eye change should be assessed before an elective procedure.

Ask what is creating the shadow, whether your eyelid anatomy makes fat transfer appropriate, where fat would be taken from, how recovery will be supported, and what happens if the result is uneven.
