What should you know about daktarin for nappy rash?

Nappy rash can result from wetness, friction, contact irritation or infection. A yeast-related rash may look bright red and involve skin folds, with small spots or patches near the main area. Appearance alone cannot confirm the cause, and babies can have more than one type of irritation at once.

Follow the label or your clinician's instructions for Daktarin, applying it to clean, carefully dried skin. Change nappies promptly, rinse away irritants gently, pat rather than rub, and allow short periods without a nappy when practical. Do not mix products in the same layer unless advised, and wash hands before and after application.

Seek medical advice if the rash is raw, blistered, oozing, rapidly spreading or associated with fever, marked discomfort or reduced feeding.
